The Doctor is In…
So Dr. Ruth was on hand for this graduation we shot. I never realized what her exact stature was but in person she’s just as she is on TV!

Last night I shot a tribute event for John Marks who’s retiring from the SFCVB and it was a lush gala dinner that was out on the field at AT&T Park. Right after, I felt like getting a drink so I headed down to the Tenderloin to go to RX Gallery where some of our friends were throwing a party called Grounded.
As photographers, we’re often behind the lens so there are many who you never really see unless you are the subject of the photo itself. Last night I ran into Drew Altizer who is probably the number one society shooter in San Francisco. Here he is with Lana Adair at the Baxter Chang Patri gallery for First Thursdays. Of course he managed to get me back by photographing me too.
On hand at tonight’s event was President Jimmy Carter who was there to support his son Jack Carter, who’s running for Senate in Nevada. In a way it was the passing of the torch from one generation to the next, and the integrity and honesty that is hallmark to the Carter name was absolutely recognizable in all three generations of Carters present.
Tip: if you wanna get sexy shots, wear orange! We’ll be posting all the shots and our pix for the best of shortly – stay tuned!

As part of our Social Photography program, we often like to support other arts organizations, and Southern Exposure is a very cool group. We shot Momentum, their Annual Spring Fundraiser and Art Auction and one of the pieces up for the live auction was this Gus Van Sant piece. Personally I liked a piece that ended up going for upwards of $800 so I wasn’t able to take it home.
We covered the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake and Fire centennial commemoration for the San Francisco Chronicle yesterday and it was quite a day long festivity. It all kicked off at Lotta’s Fountain on Market St. and the highlight for me was Norma Norwood (pictured above) who was actually conceived in Golden Gate Park because, according to her, her parents were cold and homeless as a result of the ‘quake and had to cuddle. You know what cuddling [...]
So after the expo we finally had a chance to relax and enjoy a bit of the pool at Bally’s. After grabbing a Guinness, we sat down and then the towel ball strolled by…
