Justin Fone Premiere

So our good friend Justin Fone who’s an excellent wedding videographer hosted a premiere party at his loft space in SOMA tonight. Great event with a lot of the top vendors in the industry there. It’s sometimes a bit amazing to realize how much talent there is in your group of friends and it’s great to see everyone succeeding while maintaining their creative visions. Congratulations Justin! Ah gotta love the cell phone photo quality!

Sammy Hagar | Cabo Wabo @ The Fillmore

Sammy Hagar performed last night at The Fillmore for a packed house after the SKYY National Sales Meeting wrapped up. Of course Sammy sold an interest in Cabo Wabo tequilas so they were flowing at the show. I was amazed at the intensity of his fans. One woman in front of me had a wallet portfolio of photos of her with Sammy. Now that’s brand loyalty! Shot Details: Canon 40D, 24-70 2.8L @ 54mm – 1/160, ISO [...]

a new wedding album

Coffee-table book albums have been really popular with the wedding clients lately. They’re like those gorgeous hardcover photobooks you can buy at MOMA, but with your own images. I’m pretty excited about this new style we’re offering this year. It’s a 10″x10″ coffee-table book with a leather cover, presented in a custom designed box. Check out the full album layout here, featuring photography by Jake, our newest associate wedding photographer (welcome!).

Happy Birthday Maureen!

Today is Maureen’s birthday but we had to celebrate yesterday since she’s got today off. Hope you are having a great one Maureen!

Strictly Business 2

So ASMP brought back the Strictly Business series and the first one of SB2 was down in Southern California (Torrance to be exact) this past weekend. There were almost 200 photographers in attendance and a lot of great information shared. For those who are starting out or in the middle of their careers as well, I’d suggest checking it out. There are three more cities scheduled for the rest of this year, and the presenters go over [...]

Great wedding photography feedback!

We participated in a new wedding fair for us up in Marin put on by Modern Bridal. There wasn’t quite the traffic we anticipated but we were really happy with the feedback we got. Several times we heard the word ‘artists’ used which is great to hear. We try hard and put a lot into our wedding photography so it’s nice to hear feedback that people see that in our work. That was our last bridal fair [...]

Free WPPI passes

Just thought we’d share the wealth for those who are going to WPPI this year. We’ve exhibited there before and gone several years and this year it will be in Las Vegas from March 17-19. You can use this pass to go to the expo for free!

It’s National Mentoring Month

So January is National Mentoring Month. At Orange we’re participating in First Exposures, which is a mentoring program for youth and of course involves photography. It’s a great program but there are tons of opportunities to volunteer as a mentor. We encourage you to check out the numerous opportunities to do so in the Bay Area! Here’s a link to a video for the ReelPeople Project that Friends of Youth put together – they manage some of [...]

Au revoir Dennis Richmond

We had a chance to photograph Dennis Richmond a few years ago as part of our SF Faces exhibit. We just heard about the news that he’s going off the air at KTVU. Au revoir Dennis!
