VMware goes public!

So today one of our clients, VMware, went public and we were at their new HQ in Palo Alto this morning as their CEO rang the bell at the NYSE. Here’s a happy employee after the stock opened around $50.

Gen Art Fashion Collector’s Circle

Tonight we shot Gen Arts‘ Fashion Collector’s Circle event at LeeQuen Atelier which is on Heron, one of my favorite alleys in SF. This is the two designers who compromise LeeQuen Atelier – Colleen Quen and Rick Lee standing next to Gen Art’s Dana Castro (left). Gen Art is building up to their big “Fresh Faces in Fashion” event on August 22nd which is a great event that we recommend checking out if you want to see [...]

The Freight Elevator with Aida

I’ve been using the freight elevator for a few shots when I do studio work with physique athletes and today used the back side of the elevator to get some silhouetted shots. I like how the edge lighting works on the silhouette when the light bounces around the elevator shaft. This is IFBB Professional figure athlete Aida Aragon who is competing next weekend in Dallas, TX.

Juliana Jade

This past weekend I was covering the USA Figure and Bodybuilding Championships. I had met Juliana in Seattle earlier in the year and she was competing at the show so we set up a shoot. She’s a great model and although it was ridiculously hot outside, we got some nice shots in. This was just laying on a rare patch of grass while the 2nd shot was in a fake rock cave – how very Vegas!

Family Cirqus

Our travelling photo booth made an appearance at the Google Family Cirqus event last week. Some lovely mermaidens from San Francisco Circus Center helped us out, posing with Googlers.

Secretary General of the United Nations

The Secretary General of the United Nations made a visit to San Francisco last week, finding time to sample some fine cheeses during a tour of the Ferry Building. He seemed humble and gentle in person.

The View from the Bay…

Last month was a blur. One of the neat things that I was reminded of was the great views we get out here of our city as well as the Bay Area. I took a ferry over from Oakland/Alameda towards San Francisco and got to go by the piers where all the giant shipping cranes were. I’ve heard that they inspired George Lucas’ interpretation of the Death Star so it was neat to get so close and [...]

2nd place for image, 6th overall

WPJA (Wedding Photojournalist Association) has an artistic branch where photo journalistic images are creatively enhanced to take the image to the next level. I won 2nd place for the getting ready category and 6th place overall, check out the rest of the competition and winners here.

NYC photography

I remember reading about NYC considering requiring permitting for photography anywhere in the city (even on regular streets) and although it’s not something that’s been implemented yet, myself and many other photographers here to cover the Figure Nationals were accosted by security and told that permits were required. I was shooting Jennifer Cowan here when we got stopped… I guess that was my only Friday the 13th experience though!
