The Carter Torch

2006-05-25T00:52:47-07:00By |Categories: Point of View|

On hand at tonight’s event was President Jimmy Carter who was there to support his son Jack Carter, who’s running for Senate in Nevada. In a way it was the passing of the torch from one generation to the next, and the integrity and honesty that is hallmark to the Carter name was absolutely recognizable in all three generations of Carters present.

New forms of Marketing

This weekend we shot an Audi Test Drive event that was co-sponsored by Wired Magazine among other companies, and the event itself seems like a new way of marketing to certain crowds. Without the pressure of the showroom but with the ulta-critical test drive component, Audi was selling not only their cars, but a whole lifestyle. Brands on hand aside from Wired included a masseuse from San Francisco Magazine, a full on home theater setup, caricature drawings [...]

As part of our Social Photography program, we often like to support other arts organizations, and Southern Exposure is a very cool group. We shot Momentum, their Annual Spring Fundraiser and Art Auction and one of the pieces up for the live auction was this Gus Van Sant piece. Personally I liked a piece that ended up going for upwards of $800 so I wasn’t able to take it home.

San Francisco Rising

We covered the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake and Fire centennial commemoration for the San Francisco Chronicle yesterday and it was quite a day long festivity. It all kicked off at Lotta’s Fountain on Market St. and the highlight for me was Norma Norwood (pictured above) who was actually conceived in Golden Gate Park because, according to her, her parents were cold and homeless as a result of the ‘quake and had to cuddle. You know what cuddling [...]

WPPI after the expo…

So after the expo we finally had a chance to relax and enjoy a bit of the pool at Bally’s. After grabbing a Guinness, we sat down and then the towel ball strolled by…

Orange everywhere

Today I didn’t have a shoot so I ran errands around town and managed to swing by the SFMOMA where I crossed paths with Brad Bird as he was heading down the stairs. It’s strange that I’d run into him twice in two weeks. Then at Dolores Park, I realized that in today’s Sunday New York Times, there’s a photo of Jim Buckmaster, CEO of Craigslist taken by Orange. We’ve been published twice in the Gray Lady, [...]
