Holidays already?

Guinness Well as it always seems in the US, the holidays are upon us earlier and earlier. We’ve sent out our holiday promotional emails to our customers and they seem to be a hit.

We also found the perfect gift for the studio so if anyone wants to get this for us, we’ll throw in a free studio portrait shoot for this Guinness Kegerator (as well as free […]

The first shoot of the morning…

2005-11-19T00:03:52-08:00By |Categories: Point of View|

The suite we’re staying in at the Hyatt Regency here in Atlanta, GA has a nice window that I decided to leverage for my first shoot in the morning which started at 5:00am PT. This was taken by Hans Klein who was sitting in on the shoot while James Cook was assisting. Personally I ended up liking this making of shot more than the actual photo.

Having too much fun

Taura shot the 7×7 Magazine Bring on the Night party at Bambuddha on Tuesday night and it knocked a few of the Orange team outta commission. Here’s a few photos from the festivities.

The Canon logo

2005-11-09T07:43:21-08:00By |Categories: Point of View|

I have always liked the Canon logo as far as a brand goes and even remember drawing it on gutters in my notebooks. Since we’ve largely standardized on Canon gear, I was looking up some info on the parent company and found some interesting info out on the origins of their brand. Who knew that it started out as Kwanon, the Buddhist Goddess of Mercy?

The Daruma

2017-07-24T21:19:34-07:00By |Categories: Point of View|

This is the Daruma that my parents gave to me for the business. I didn’t really know what the meaning/story was behind it so my Dad explained it to me. Here’s the details… “The gift we gave you for celebration of the new phase of your business is a traditional Japanese figurine of the great Buddhist monk called Daruma. He is the founder of Zen Buddhism. He was born in southern India. His Buddhist name is Bodhidharma. [...]

Our beautiful city

2005-11-07T17:02:37-08:00By |Categories: Personal, Point of View|

One of the great things about our jobs is the various ways we get to see what goes on in San Francisco, but sometimes just looking at the physical city itself is a pleasure. Here’s a couple shots I took from the last seven days or so…

Fire in the Mission

2017-07-24T21:19:34-07:00By |Categories: Personal|

So my friend Jen Chehardy was visiting along with her roomate so I decided to take them to the Mission and after lunch at Pancho Villa we walked down Valencia and eventually made it up to the roof at Medjool. Once we were there we were greeted with a spectacular view of San Francisco, and a plume of black smoke from a fire in the Mission.

Six in one night

Ah models…

2005-10-27T00:50:29-07:00By |Categories: Point of View|

Real models make our jobs so easy. Tonight we shot an event for Nordstrom with designer Dana Buchman and there was a runway show staffed by some models from San Francisco. Some people say models are overpaid, but when you work with good ones, it helps to make everyone look better…

Camera Gear of the Rich and Famous

2005-10-24T23:40:26-07:00By |Categories: Point of View|

Salesforce.com CEO Marc Benioff started chatting with me about camera gear tonight and I found out he has a 1Ds which seems to be the camera of choice of the well heeled. A top Democratic official I spoke with at a political event also shared that he too had a 1Ds although he didn’t quite know how to use all it’s features.
