When I was in school, I remember Dorothea Lange’s images captivating me and bringing me into the experience of the people she photographed. She was one of the first photographers that really made an impact on me and there’s a new book out titled Impounded that drew my interest.
As a half-Japanese American, I’ve always been fascinated with the internment and Executive Order 9066. Her new book has tons of new work originally censored by the U.S. Army and is the first photography book I’ve picked up in 2007. If you are interested in seeing another side of Lange’s work, check it out!
