Over this past weekend, Orange Photography had the pleasure of doing our part in the fight against cancer. Over the past couple months we’ve been raising money and planning our participation in the San Leandro Relay for Life.
If you aren’t familiar with Relay for Life, it is a 24-hour event that usually takes place on a track. Teams raise money leading up to and during the event to donate to the American Cancer Society. On the day of the “race” teams take turns walking, running, skipping, etc. around the track. The idea is to have someone from your team walking the track at all times to represent the constant fight against cancer.
We set up a small photobooth to raise some money on-site and all took our turns, running and walking around the track. Overall, it was a great day to be outside as a team and support a cause that we all care deeply about. Many of us on the team have been affected by cancer on a deeply personal level. We have all lost someone to cancer, but we also know some amazing survivors, our own Ryan being one of those survivors!
Overall, we were happy to support an organization that not only puts money towards cancer research, but also helps those who are in the midst of battling the disease, as well as funds preventative programs. Also, we got a bit of a workout while doing it!
Also, a HUGE Thank You to our friends and family who donated to help us reach our fundraising goal!
