Another nice thing about our jobs is getting to learn about things. With the more technical things, it’s often hard to know what’s going on, but we got to shoot on a city tour this week and I learned a lot more about San Diego. The military has a strong presence here, and there are two aircraft carriers berthed in San Diego Bay, with the USS Nimitz being the one show in this photo. It was amazing to get details on how large it is (1,092 feet – if placed sideways, it’d be about twice as tall as the tallest building in San Diego), how many people live on board (5000+) and that the nuclear reactor on it can power it for like 20 years or so.
