We know everyone is busy welcoming in the new year and perhaps making their own New Years Resolutions so if you resolve to keep up with what’s happening in the events industry then here’s a list we’ve compiled of the top events industry blogs to follow.
1) Event Manager Blog
Another standby, the Event Manager Blog is full of great insights and perspectives. We like their take on things like this post: 7 Winning Ways of the Event Food Waste Warrior – as a San Francisco Green Business, we like to see all things green being embraced and food waste is a huge issue in our industry and America as a whole – check out this fantastic article about it from National Geographic.
2) BizBash
Everyone is probably familiar with this publication and we love their thorough coverage of the events industry. Richard Aaron is a great personality (we got to hear him speak most recently at the ISES-NCC chapter’s November education event)
3) Eventbrite
Our fellow local orange-colored friends have a great blog with info on event tech, trends and ways to maximize the impact of your events!
4) PlannerWire
Good thoughts and writing here. We like their posts such as “Not all Events can use Social Media” – read it!
5) Liz King Events
We’ve been following her twitter feed and so should you (probably you already do)!
6) EventJuice
Well, our blog used to be called Pulp: Juicy Bits from the Orange Photography team, so of course we love EventJuice! They’ve got a nice international perspective being from the UK with great articles such as The 5-step Process for Managing Difficult Speakers.
7) Smart Meetings
Smart Meetings, the appropriately titled publication, has a blog with info on destinations and travel trips as well as general industry-specific news.
8) Velvet Chainsaw
Always loved the name of this company and have seen Jeff Hurt speak numerous times. They like to get deep into things with fresh ideas and approaches. No fluffy content here!
9) Cvent Blog
More business focused, but good data and reporting from Cvent.
10) Propel @ PlanningPod
Lots of statistics and reports are cited so you can get some good data on what’s happening in the events industry.
11) Event Planning Blueprint
This is a good site for the emerging events professional or those who want to grow their business. More on the business side of things, but if there’s one thing we’ve learned in our 15 years being in business it’s that it’s just as important to focus on your business and marketing as it is to improve your own skills and expertise!
