Natalie Jenks
Natalie is one of Orange’s top shooters. She has spent time as part of the internal team, but now works as an Orange Associate on our corporate side as well as our wedding side, Crush. Clients and Brides (or Grooms) are always in good hands when Natalie is on the job. We appreciate everything she does and wanted to share a little bit more about her.
What is your favorite thing about working with Orange?
My favorite thing about working with Orange is the people I’ve met and get to work with. Orange has a great community of photographers and other staff. I’ve had a blast getting to know everyone. When you work as a freelancer, having other photographers to bounce ideas off of and learn from is a real asset.
Do you have any hidden talents?
One of my hidden talents is my ability to make crazy faces. My husband and I sometimes make faces at each other, each round getting crazier and more exaggerated, and I usually win when he gives up and concedes that he’ll probably have nightmares. It’s a gift. (we can attest to this, especially in some of our slow motion photo booths!)
Favorite Quote?
One of my favorite quotes is from the Pink Floyd song “Breathe”:
For long you live and high you fly
And smiles you’ll give and tears you’ll cry
And all you touch and all you see
Is all your life will ever be
What is something most people don’t know about you?
Something most people don’t know about me is that I used to have pretty bad stage fright. I was shy when I was younger and hated the idea of public speaking. (If you’ve met me in person, this might surprise you as I’m pretty outgoing these days.) In the fourth grade, I was one of the finalists in my school’s spelling bee, but I didn’t want to go to the next round at the bigger competition with more people watching me and have to be on stage any more so I purposefully misspelled a word so I could leave!
What’s your favorite thing about photography?
My favorite thing about photography is it’s ability to preserve moments. I’m a very visual person and I have a poor memory, so looking back at old photos is one of my favorite things to do.
What inspires you?
Traveling to new places is where I find my greatest inspiration. Any place that offers me a different perspective always gets my brain juice flowing.
