The old days…

Back before Orange started, I used to take photos at 111 Minna on Wednesday nights for Qool. I made it there last week after a shoot at the SFMOMA and a lot of the regulars were there including Frank Chu.

How bodybuilders party

Photographers often get access to things that others don’t get to see. This past weekend was the Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic in Columbus, OH. Here’s a few shots from the weekend including some from the official after party on Saturday night.

From the inside

This week I’ve shot a couple interior/setup shots of places I’ve previously photographed and at the Hyatt they did a really nice job with it. Here are two looks at the same room with just the lighting adjusted.

Julia and Jay

My first wedding of the season was Julia and Jay’s and it ended in perfect fashion.

Our busy Thursday…

Thursday was quite busy for us at Orange. We have four events going on including hosting a Business After Hours event for the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce at the Orange studios. The event was a total success and the free headshots were quite popular with the crowd. Special thanks to our sponsors: La Bonne Cuisine, Rogue Ales, Marc Fong lighting, spa bar and FloraDina

Oftentimes I find that the very first shot taken turns out quite interesting. The subjects are usually relaxed in the sense that it’s not an ‘official’ shot but more to get composition, lighting, etc. In this case, I was shooting the overall champion of the 2006 Ironman figure championships, Halcyon Duarte, the morning after the competition and we finally got some sun and some warmth. She was just getting ready when I snapped this.

Heroes and Hearts

Anyhow I go this one which ended up looking kinda funny with the photographer sticking his camera right at him while he tried to enjoy some art.

Learning while at work…

One of the nice things about shooting events is the exposure you get to a broad range of topics. Earlier this week I covered the first ever “Ending Domestic Violence and Human Trafficking in the 21st Century” conference at the new UCSF Mission Bay campus (it was actually the first conference ever held there). There was a lot of really great information presented and it reminded me of how much more we all have to do to [...]
