Today our Governor was in town as a guest of the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce. He was introduced by former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown and the Democratic Brown headed praise upon our Republican Governator. Here are the two of them after the speech and Q&A session back stage.

Custom Stock Photography

We’ve done a lot of work shooting custom stock for various companies who don’t want to pay the royalties for stock photography. This was an outtake from a law firm and if I had to keyword it, I would call it: “Reading a book to a skeleton”

Fareed Zakaria in San Francisco

2017-07-24T21:18:57-07:00By |Categories: Point of View|

Yesterday Fareed Zakaria was the opening keynote speaker at PCBC 2007. Having read his work for quite some time, it was nice to get to meet him and listen in to his speech. Later in the afternoon, branding guru Martin Lindstrom spoke and as always we try to apply what we’re listening to while we’re shooting. Luckily for a photography company, location does matter and with the dynamic nature of events and quality and style of photography [...]

YouTubers

We shot an event for the Commonwealth Club where the two founders of YouTube, Chad Hurley and Steve Chan spoke. Afterwards there was a party at Otis and the two enjoyed a few cocktails. Both guys are really down to earth and happy to sit through being propositioned and hero-worshipped. It’s always good to see laid back guys who have hit it big and kept humble…

Actress Annette Benning

Annette Benning took part in City Arts and Lectures at the American Conservatory Theater this week. She was a wonderfully polite woman who we overheard offered to take her own cab to the airport, to not inconvenience her hosts, but they insisted they take her themselves. She stayed to the very end of the reception making sure to say hello to everyone and was happy to take photos with whomever wanted a shot.

Girly men…

Last night I was covering the 2007 NPC Contra Costa Bodybuilding, Fitness and Figure Championships and guest posing was current Mr. Olympia Jay Cutler. He’s always known to go out into the crowds to pose and did that once again to the delight of the fans (even those in the balcony).

in the midst of all our busyness, i found some time to reminded myself why i took up photography and enjoyed helping a worthwhile non profit while doing what i love. It’s far too easy to forget the why while you’re trying to accomplish the how.

First Fridays – Phoenix, AZ, USA (photo by Betsy Schneider)

Having a few days in between my shoots, I was lucky enough to find out about First Fridays in downtown Phoenix, which is apparently the largest art opening type of event in the US. It’s like the First Thursdays we have in San Francisco, but I was taken by how many families were strolling about with their kids exposing them to all sorts of arts and expressionism. It was great to also see kids artwork on display [...]

TED Talks – Nachtwey, Burtynsky and more

2007-05-04T00:40:50-07:00By |Categories: Photography, Point of View|

I’m a huge fan of James Nachtwey and you can check out his excellent presentation from TED this year online. The TED website is great because they have all the presentations from the conference online. Edward Burtynksky is also another of my favorite photographers and his presentation from 2005 is also online. They’re both about 30 minutes but well worth viewing. The site has as log of other good content too from luminaries like Phil Borges and [...]
