No runs, no drips, no errors

Well, I got to see someone from my past when I photographed MLB Hall of Fame catcher Johnny Bench this past week. I used to watch baseball and other sports on TV with my dad in the 1970s and I vividly recall the Krylon ads where Bench was featured so it was a bit surreal to be photographing him now in 2007.

The Lovemakers @ DNA Lounge

Last night being the only night I’ll be in San Francisco the rest of this month after returning from shooting up in the Pacific Northwest, I decided to go out and my friends were invited to see The Lovemakers play at the DNA Lounge in SOMA so I took along my camera and snapped a few shots off during their set. I hadn’t heard them before, but it was a pretty good show.

Favorite tool of the trade

_after _before With the volume of work they do, while trying to maintain a high standard of artistic expression, i’ve been a big fan of adobe’s recently launched lightroom. It’s an superbly design program that takes the tedium out of working with so many images. I could go on for a couple of hours about it but any one working with a lot of imagery these days should consider downloading it and trying it out.

Headshots, headshots, headshots….

Another fabulous headshot test shot of Erwin our ace intern! We had a big crew shooting last night as we had 16 of the Orange team on hand for a pretty big shoot. Setting up was the biggest challenge and coordinating the logistics involved a lot of planning and gear. We pretty much cleaned out the studio bringing in 14 lights, five powerpacks, and four monolights.

Last night CeU played the Independent. I had heard her music and an interview on NPR early on Friday morning and decided to check it out. The show was a great way to spend a Friday the 13th.

Last night we shot the Boogie Knights event at Poleng Lounge. 7×7 Magazine and Smirnoff hosted the party and several of the Orange crew were there. Here’s Jamie and Andria enjoying a few of those Smirnoff beverages.

Go Orange for Animals!

Tuesday April 10th is ASPCA Day. Since my father was a Professor of Veterinary Anatomy he mentioned it to me since the theme for the day is to “Go Orange!” If you have a pet and want to swing by the studio for a quick portrait with your pet, come by that day (1261 Howard St., 2nd floor between 8th and 9th Streets in SOMA). We’ll be doing portraits and donating some of the sitting fees (sliding [...]

So I took this shot at the Hyatt Regency Embarcadero today for a shoot and loved how it looks like a face. It’s the interior of the Grand Ballroom.

The M Factor

What’s the M Factor? It was an event held yesterday and last night for the Menlo School. The event was really impressive with an amazingly choreographed fashion show mixed in with a live auction, cocktails, dancing and a luncheon and dinner as well. Many of the movers and shakers from the Valley were present including Robin Williams.

Postcard from Paris

We (me and Kevin) were in Las Vegas the past couple of days for WPPI, being held at Paris Hotel. One of the products I think attendees were most excited about was Adobe Lightroom, released a few months ago. I was able to attend a few seminars which introduced me to a lot of neat features. While I’ve been using it regularly, I was unaware of just how dynamic it is. I have to say I’m excited [...]
