Today we went out on the Everglades on an airboat tour run by Miccosukee Indian Johnny Tigertail. It was educational and a lot of fun and a great option for an eco-tour. We lucked out and got the craziest driver who was flooring the airboat and sliding it along the ‘Glades…
I can’t say that I expected to be photographing synchronized swimmers when I flew to Southern Florida but that was part of the entertainment tonight. It was pretty interesting to shoot. I kinda wished I had an underwater rig to play with though especially since it was so hot and humid out here (well, compared to San Francisco at least!). Not the worst way to spend a Sunday night…
After a crazy start to the year we were finally able to take the whole studio out for a much-deserved day off. The weather was magnificent and we went out to Golden Gate Park first for a visit to the De Young, where we are also corporate supporters of the museum. The Vivienne Westwood exhibit was a standout and it’s definitely something worth checking out.
Kiara Brinkman who’s new novel Up High in the Trees is coming out soon was in our studios for a photo shoot for her book cover photo and promotional shots. We’ve had quite a few authors in for shots and it’s always nice working with fellow creative folks.
So today it was beautiful and sunny in the afternoon but this morning I had an assignment to shoot for Riverbed. They were moving into their new offices officially and they had a parade to march from the old location on 2nd Street down to their new digs at 199 Fremont. Today we shot the annual San Francisco Chamber of Commerce’s CityBeat Luncheon. The mayor was there as usual and the Chamber had some interesting poll results they shared with everyone. Unsurprisingly the #1 issue facing San Francisco they found was homelessness & panhandling (41%) with homeownership & cost of homes coming in in 2nd (25%).
Shoe and fashion designer Steve Madden was at Nordstrom today. One of the interesting things he talked about with his fans/shoppers was when two younger kids asked him why he loved shoes, and what was the most amazing thing that happened to him.
I dunno if every photographer does this but when you get a new lens or other equipment it’s hard not to just wanna use it right away. It doesn’t result in much of anything except that you can test the thing out. So this is the setup we used today for our headshots. This is quite a typical setup that we use when we have one shooter taking care of everything. There’s a seamless roll, 2 lights, a reflector and single umbrella. Pretty portable and easy to setup and breakdown.
