Photographer Anton Corbijn’s debut as a director is Control, a biopic about Joy Division lead singer Ian Curtis, and it’s a wonderful film.
Having been heavily influenced by the Manchester sound and aesthetic, it was nice to see this film and how Corbijn treated the subject matter.
The film is infused with the music and feel of 1970’s Manchester (Macclesfield, more specifically) and those who are familiar with that era and time will get a kick out of references like the ones to George Best and Man City Blue.
Definitely recommend the film which does a great job telling the story of Curtis and is also shot very well (on Kodak black and white film) and appropriately for the storyline…
