This past weekend we covered Venue Connect 2012 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida for the IAVM. It occurred to me during the event that we, as event photographers, do a lot of walking when we shoot. That paired with the less than wise choice to bring my ‘cool’ shoes instead of my super comfy shoes, led me to think a lot about my feet and what they were feeling. Lugging around 10-15 pounds of gear on your back and carrying much of that in the form of bodies/lenses on your body during the day adds up. So on the last full day of the conference I decided to track my walking and covering of the show to see how far I traveled.
In total it was about seven miles for almost eight hours of coverage. Above you can see the first part of the day over at the convention center, and below is the evening reception/closing party.
