As per the description on the Fotovision website:

In this one-day workshop with acclaimed LA Times staff photographer Michael Robinson Chavez, you will learn how to put together a series of images that can tell a compelling story in a variety of forms depending on the goals and style of the photographer. This workshop will help photographers break out of their comfort zone, experimenting with style, distance from the subject and ideas of narrative essay and storytelling.

There will be a short shooting session and in-depth edits and critiques with each student of existing work and work shot that day. Time permitting, there will also be an opportunity to discuss matters of working on domestic and international stories, including how to overcome obstacles regarding access and how to get to the heart of your story, hitting readers and viewers with powerful images. Michael is open to discussing the incorporation of audio into your work and the delicate balancing act necessary to achieve gathering great audio and images on the same assignment. It promises to be an educational, exciting and busy day!
