When we first started Orange Photography, we had to often skip out on Burning Man since it culminated on Labor Day weekend, which is a popular weekend for weddings and as such, wedding photographers were in demand especially here in Northern California. As we’ve grown, we have had more of a team to hold down the fort and keep things running. This year just one of us went out and that was me. I camped at Salty Jacks and didn’t go out there to take Burning Man photos per se, but of course couldn’t go out to the playa sans cameras.
In the end I took three Polaroids (well, two and an Impossible I-1), and one digital body.
Below are a few photos from the event with some captions. It was a particularly nice weather year so it was amazing to be able to go out at night and not be cold like in many years. The days weren’t blazing hot either so it was pretty ideal to get out to explore but really at Burning Man you can choose to do whatever you want, or nothing at all. I ended up volunteering some shifts at the airport (NV88) as I often do and got up on a flight with Captain Crunch on a nice clear morning (iPhone shot below) which was a great way to start the day.
