One of the coolest things about shooting events is learning and meeting people you probably would not have met otherwise. It also often provides a chance to try and get more interesting shots since most panels and presentations are usually fairly similar setup-wise.
On Thursday night during the Nightlife event at the California Academy of Sciences, we shot for WIRED for their DIY DNA event. The panelists were Dr. Hugh Rienhof, founder of MyDaughtersDNA.org (in photo at left) and 23andme.com co-founder Linda Avey (center) and it was moderated by Thomas Goetz of WIRED. I really liked the portion on patenting your genome and how medicine at the genomic level could be a quantum leap forward from the way things are currently done.
