One of the great things about shooting glitzy holiday parties (besides awesome catered food leftovers…) is having access to interesting venues. My favorites are the really old ones with original interior details. Apparently the Regency Center, built at the turn of the century, used to be a Mason lodge. You can see the Lodge level is well maintained with stained glass, red velvet wallpaper, and the carved dark beams. The City Club of SF has patterned copper ceilings and a Diego Rivera mural (they have a dedicated security guard during events). When I shoot events, I try to take setup shots for the venues to showcase possibilities for the use of the space. You never know when they might be able to use an image for promo material.
