Inspiration is something every creative we know has struggled with from time to time. We’re the same and find it valuable to get out of the photography world and seek inspiration in various facets of our lives. Whether it’s seeing a movie, going to a gallery opening or the ballet to reading a book.
Recently I saw my photographer friend Helena Price post about some books she found valuable and among them was Brené Brown who’s TED Talk we’ve all likely seen (if not, go watch it now!)
I decided to pick up Daring Greatly: How the Courage to Be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and Lead and Show Your Work!: 10 Ways to Share Your Creativity and Get Discovered by Austin Kleon. One common theme in both books was vulnerability and it rang true. As creatives, we know that when we put our work out there it makes us vulnerable but it also can make us and our work stronger. It’s a simple concept but something that we often forget. People ultimately like to connect and when you share and are vulnerable, people can connect and appreciate that.
