Rosie O’Donnell and Sharon Gless made a brief appearance at yesterday evening’s Frameline33 closing party. Just long enough to thank the crowd and re-enact a makeout scene. They had just screened the world premiere of Hannah Free. Based on the crowd’s emotional reactions to the stars (many tearful embraces and heartfelt handshakes), I’m guessing it is a well-acted and moving film. Here is the synopsis from the official site:

SF-based Hyphen Magazine is blowing up 111 Minna next Friday with a big ol summer party to celebrate the release of the Family Issue. Orange has some portraits in there for their feature on unconventional families. As their newbie director of photography, I’m excited to be developing more photo stories and bringing photography to the print publication sphere. Get your party face on, we’ll see you next Friday.

We’ve been shooting various festivities and afterparties for Frameline33, the annual LGBT film festival. These are great to shoot, many fanciful characters and photo savvy folk. The film line up is solid. I love documentaries in particular and there are a bunch I wouldn’t mind checking out (these two look pretty captivating Off and Running and The Good American). The festival ends Sunday 6/28.

Here comes the fog (which is actually the most flattering light in photography, folks; don’t miss the sun too much) and here comes the bride.  A beautiful ceremony in the Shakespeare Garden in our local Golden Gate Park, featuring our favorite color, brings about the union of Tamar and Brian photographed by Jake and Myleen.  Check it out:

Tuesday at Chateau St. Jean

We were up in wine country last night to capture the awards ceremony for Great West Life at Chateau St. Jean. The big surprise of the evening, which we had to keep mum for the guests, was the band America taking the stage after dinner. I guess they’ve kept touring for decades, about 100 shows a year. Still going strong! They were real sweet at the VIP’s meet and greet.

So we use tape for all sorts of things as I’m sure all photographers do so we decided to create a top ten list so here it goes:

1) Gaffers – the prototypical multi-use tape – too bad it’s not cheaper!
2) duck tape – you can pretty much fix all sorts of things with this…
3) double-sided – need to attach two things?  this is it!
4) scotch – […]
