After shooting at SFMOMA for their Member Sessions I ended up at Popscene where a British band HARD-Fi was playing. Since I had my gear with me, I decided to take a few snaps of the band, especially their intense-looking lead singer, Richard Archer.

although we shot a number of engagements recently where the main subjects were kids and as much they i enjoy their energy and candor, i think i got my fill this weekend. trying to photograph 20 kids running around in an inflatable playgroud where they’re moving 10 times faster than they normally do was one of my more phyiscally challenging shoots. on occassions, they would stand still and i get some interesting adult like expression from them. This must be headshot and portrait season as we’ve had quite a lot of headshots coming through the studio. Today we were shooting for Virgin America airlines and overall the studio has been buzzing lately. This is how the shoot looked like from my desk as I sorted through to make edits and selects from my shoots over the weekend in LA.
it wasn’t by design but i couldn’t resist crowning a friend’s baby as our official orange baby calendar year. it’s always amazing to photograph a baby’s progression within the first year. This one is beginning to have some character.
So my good friend Stacey Miller (a great stylist at diPietro Todd Salon in Union Square) had her soiree and I surprisingly found myself in her slideshow – but she was the subject of a photo that I entered into the 7×7 Magazine Bring on the Night contest a year ago that was selected – so it was only fair…
It’s not everyday that we get to photograph two ultra sexy and unbashfully smart ladies in our studio. They are the brillant team that recently launched a podcast show entitled “sex with emily” – saving the world one orgasm at a time. We wish them much luck as they educate the masses on the trickyness that is sex.
So last week was our birthday and it’s hard to believe it’s gone by so fast. From the pad on Natoma to the studio/gallery space here at 1261 Howard and all the changes in between. From Colin to Traci to Scott to Katie to Sarah and Tara. It’s been quite the ride but I feel like we’re just cresting over the climb and the real ride is about to start.
