This isn’t directly photography related but here are some really useful tools that we use all the time: TinyURL: this is a great site for making short URLs when you need to send really long ones since often email programs will wrap line breaks making long URLs not work right
So Maia had her soiree at the venerable DiPietro Todd Salon and is a full on stylist now. She hired me to shoot it and I was experimenting with some post-production techniques that are quite popular now in advertising photography and was fairly happy with this shot.
This was a shot that Anka Urbahn took during a shoot at the new space before we moved in. The shoot was in March and the model is Marcy Porter, a professional figure athlete who had just competed in the 2005 San Francisco Pro Figure Championships. As a big fan of Haruki Murakami, one of the most arresting elements of his novels is the imagery that his prose elicits. I’ve always wondered how one of his novels would be translated into film, and now that opportunity will present itself when Tony Takitani debuts here in the US. If you haven’t read many novels lately, I would highly recommend any of Murakami’s.
