If you aren’t already at the DIPA Fest then you might be remembering all the great beers from last night’s opening celebration for San Francisco Beer Week!

Like many, we first had to grab a taste of Pliny the Younger.  Always a hugely popular brew, I felt kind of sorry for the Russian River folks with such a huge line right from the start.  But there were plenty of great beers available and really too many to try.  Luckily there was plenty of food options like Belly Burger, Rosamunde sausages, and an amazing chicken and waffle sandwich from Soul Groove.  Tunes were provided by Noise Pop and you couldn’t walk more than ten steps without being within reach of a pour of beer.

One of the new beers (for me) that really stood out was Ale Industries’ Unity, as in Edward and I also liked Mill Valley Beerworks’ Ned.  Ned is a Flanders Red, so it’s a sour, which is one of my favorite styles of beer and the Unity is also a sour.  Of course Pliny the Younger is fantastic and the Drakes Hopocalypse Black Label might have pushed me over the edge.  Overall a great kickoff to a great week.

We’ll be at Sour Sunday tomorrow at Triple Rock and all over town all week so say hello if you can and maybe we’ll take a Polaroid of you as part of another project we’re doing all week…

We’ve posted all our shots to our Facebook page here.
