I remember first seeing/hearing about the Gigapan when David Bergman shot with it at President Obama’s inauguration (see the photo here and read about his experience shooting it on his own blog posting).  Recently one of our clients hired us to shoot a group shot with it and it was a lot of fun to use.  The software is incredibly simple and so is setting the rig up to take panoramas.

Since it’s such a great tool for group photos, we’ve decided to offer that up to our clients as another option for something more interactive.  It’s great if you want to do a fairly large group photo, and especially if it’s somewhere scenic where you want to take advantage of the environment.  It’s pretty fun to zoom in and see the details as really high magnification and we’ve seen it being used a lot at sporting events as well.
