Gear tip: Photoflex backdrop stands

We’ve used a lot of different gear at the studio here, but one thing we had a recent problem with was our Photoflex backdrop stands.  Two of the screw-in bolts popped out of the stand which meant you couldn’t tighten that piece of the stands and extend it to it’s full height (see above).  We did a search online and saw a few other photographers posting about […]

Just last month we finally took our team out to explore Pier 24.  If you haven’t heard about it, it’s an exhibition space that’s used to showcase photography.  Much of the exhibit is from the Pilara Foundation Collection but they also showcase other work outside of the collection.

The collection on display during our visit (and that’s up until February 28, 2013) is called About Face, and […]

Atari 2600 Joystick Museums are great because they can bring you back to the past, but a good museum can also propel you into the future or at least make you think about it.  The Computer History Museum does just that and we’ve shot all kinds of events there from an Audi test drive event in the parking lot to numerous tech parties.  The museum has been […]

Steam Whistle Brewery tour

On a recent trip to photograph up in Canada, we had a chance to stop by and check out Steam Whistle Brewing in Toronto since it’s located just behind the Convention Center and Intercontinental Hotel, where we stayed.  The brewery is where Steam Whistle is brewed and they only make that one beer, which is a Pilsner.  It seemed serendipitous that I’d be staying […]
