Wisdom 2.0 Sponsorship

Eleen Fisher and Jon Kabat-Zinn discuss the power of mindfulness practice

We were grateful to be asked to be a sponsorship again for this year’s Wisdom 2.0 conference at the old Exploratium building. Now the building is called the Innovation Hanger and it was nice to experience the building in a new context. The team at Wisdom lined up a number of wonderful speakers such as the Jon Kabat-Zinn, Byron Katie, Chip Conley, Jewel Kilcher, Dan Harris and many more! The conference is particularly meaningful to us as many of the subjects are relevant issues to my personal life as well as having a huge influence in the kind of culture we want to create at Orange. In addition, I launched my personal portrait project at the conference documenting buddhist practices as it gains more traction in mainstream America. In particular, I am photographing subjects taking their practice beyond the cushion, hence the name of the project!

Orange Partners with the Compassionate Leaders Program

Through our our sponsorship of Wisdom 2.0 in 2015, we met Vlad, the project leader of the Compassionate Leaders Program. The program brings mindfulness practice to inner city high school students and provides them the tools and opportunity to connect with mentors from the project’s corporate sponsors.

The Power of Photography: Review of “The Salt of the Earth”

Recently, some of the Orange Photography crew took a trip to the movies. We ventured out to see the limited release documentary about the work of social photographer Sabastião Salgado entitled, “The Salt of the Earth”.  Salgado left his job as and economist in the mid-seventies and became a full-time photographer. He has traveled much of the world and captured many of the social and global issues of the past 40 years.

Orange Sponsors Storytellers for Good

As part of our Giving Back Program, we recently partnered with Storytellers for Good as a photography sponsor for their yearly fundraiser. We worked closely with Cara Jones who founded Storytellers for Good, and this Emmy Award winning news reporter turned nonprofit producer is just as inspiring as the stories she brings to life.

San Francisco Green Business renewal

san francisco green business photographers - orange photography

We’re very proud of the fact that we were/are the first photography studio to earn the San Francisco Green Business designation from the City and County of San Francisco.  It’s been a value we’ve held as a company since we started and only when there was such a program did we move to get that designation.  Here in the Bay Area people are pretty progressive and can see past greenwashing efforts and that’s why we’re particularly proud of the San Francisco Green Business recognition since the program is known to have some of the toughest standards around. The Special Event 2011 wrap-up and learnings

So last week was The Special Event in Phoenix, AZ and I was honored to be a speaker at the conference.  The best thing about going to these is that you get to meet new folks, learn and network.  This year’s The Special Event was my first one to attend and it was definitely worth the trip!
Some of the general themes that I came away with was the importance of social media and using it the right way, and hearing about many different trends and ideas for businesses in general.  As usual there were very specific sessions for caterers, designers etc, but I mostly attended more general topics.  Here’s a few more shots from the week as well as a few comments… […]
